Kester Cotton PT, DPT
Physical Therapist, Dance Medicine Specialist, Strength & Conditioning Specialist
Prior to becoming a physical therapist, Kester had a remarkable career as a professional ballet dancer. He danced as a full time company artist with the prestigious San Francisco Ballet (1993 – 2003), and with Oregon Ballet Theatre (2003 – 2006). After retirement from the stage, Kester earned his Bachelor of Arts (dance emphasis) from St. Mary’s College of Moraga, CA (2008), and then went on to earn his Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from Pacific University (2011). Kester now works as a full time orthopedic physical therapist at Therapeutic Associates SE Portland Physical Therapy, working primarily with dancers and youth athletes. Kester is passionate about evidence-based rehabilitation of dance injuries as well as clinical mentorship for students interested in working with dancers and athletes. He directs our Dance Medicine Program — a specialized clinic service for Portland’s dance community.
Outside the clinic, Kester enjoys family time with his wife Kathi and son Roy, social dancing, hiking & camping, bicycling, boating, and collecting vinyl records. He was born and raised in Portland, Oregon.
